Dog calming aids: Seems none of them work.

Having had times when Saber was over anxious and having the situations and the anxiety repeated I took to trying non prescription dog calming aids.

I can safely say that not one of them has worked. see my pet remedy stress release review.

Whether it is just that Saber doesn’t respond to these types of non prescription drugs or whether I am not prepared to try them for long enough, incurring high costs and negative results. Or is it that these things are just there to draw the owner into spending money for nothing, it is of course a matter of opinion.

Take Lintbells YuCALM for Instance.

Lintbells will refund your money if their product does not work. But that it is only after trying the product for 60 days, really? if it isn’t having any effect after two weeks it ain’t gonna work.

That much product for Saber would be at a cost of over £99.00. without P&P.

Then there is vet Uk Pro Treat

I bought these not knowing and not being able to find out much about them. When I opened the tub, wow these things were huge, more like mini chews.

Saber would not go near them. I crumbled one up and mixed it in with his food and he would have gladly starved to death than eat it.

The good thing about Vet Uk is that they refunded the cost of the tablets. They have in place a money back guarantee. If their products are unsuitable they will issue a refund.

At the time I did not know this and just left a review. The next day I received an email saying that due to this guarantee my money had been refunded.

Adaptil diffuser

ADAPTIL Calm Home Diffuser is an excellent solution to help your dog stay calm and adapt at home, in situations like staying alone, loud noises, visitors and fears.

  • Brings you and your dog closer, by creating a reassuring environment at home. Continuous use provides constant comfort for your dog.
  • Clinically proven. Veterinary used and recommended.

Nada nothing didn’t do a thing for Saber in any way shape or form.

Too Many to mention

So after having tried most of them at great expense with zero results, I have given up on them completely.

When i see something different to try, I look them up very carefully nine times out of 10 the literature states to give them an inordonate amount of time to work.

With Saber being a large dog at around 41Kg, none of the packages will even last long enough to be effective according to their own instructions. Therefore it would mean buying two or three packs just to see if it will work.

My Opinion Is

CBD oil another “Miracle Drug” is just snake oil to me. I have tried it on two dogs of mine for different ailments with absolutely no results whatsoever.

These potions are more like fishing tackle, most of it is designed to catch the angler not the fish. If any serious problems arose from Saber’s anxiety I would go to the vet and get prescription medication.

Paying the cost of the veterinary advice, plus the cost of the drugs would in the long run be only as expensive as trying multiple miracle cures.

It is no wonder the pet market is so massive, selling indestructible toys that the dog pulls apart in minutes, dog food that shortens your dogs life and specialist dog foods sold at exorbitant prices. That in fact can be purchased at a fraction of the cost under another brand name.

Seriously it would be cool to find a product that worked at a reasonable price
